We started a new chapter in the history of the glorious educational institution in Kyiv, native city for the university, where it was conceived and founded by Volodymyr Vernadsky.
In 2016 there was the first intake of students into the renovated university. The university is 98 years oldbutit again did the first set of students as in the distant 1918 when on the initiative of Solomon of Crimea our founding fathers createdthe university!
There are full-time and part-time forms of study at the university. We are working on the introduction of distance learning. There are exchange programs for both student and teaching mobility.
OUR STUDENTS
In the beginning of 2016-2017 academic year, 237 first-year students were enrolled in higher educational institutions. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine granted the University the exclusive right to enroll students from the occupied territories during the whole year, now their number is about 3,000.
Not only Ukrainian citizens are studying in the University, but also students from other countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, India, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Libya. Of these, about 15 students study in the main faculties and 50 students train in the pre-university courses.
TNU rehabilitates partnerships with European universities so that the University graduates can study in dual education programs and receive both a Ukrainian diploma and a European certificate.
V.I. Vernadsky Taurida National University signed an agreement on scientific cooperation with the Open University of Switzerland. The agreement provides for the joint work of the two universities to implement the program of double diplomas, research, the exchange of teachers and students, as well as educational programs.

The University plans further structural changes. The Ukrainian universities, which are still located in the occupied territory, are going to join the TNU.
The strategic goal of TNU for the next 10 years is the desire to build a new innovative higher education system, to become one of the best universities in Europe and the world. The new system will be based on a fundamentally different approachesfrom the Soviet ones to process of teaching and gaining knowledge. Students, like in Europe, will be able to choose the academic load of the main disciplines themselves and the number and intensity of additional special courses, which will help to optimize time and expenditures on secondary education subjects, improve the quality of the gained knowledge and increase the variability of education.
The main task of TNU is to provide graduates not only with the diplomas, but also with knowledge and skills as tools for their further development. Teaching will be conducted in four languages: Ukrainian, Russian, Crimean Tatar and English. The University is currently educating the future political and intellectual elite for the Crimea. The University current students will return to the Ukrainian Crimea to contribute to the development of the region.
The youth of our university aspire to visit Europe, to study at the best universities of the world, in order to get world experience and knowledge, then - return home and build Europe in Ukraine.
WHY OUR HIGHER INSTITUTION?
Taurida National University has great scientific, academic and practical potential. In a short time, in less than a year, the university managed to create its own infrastructure. Now there are two large educational buildings on the balance of the university. The faculties of humanities will be located on Kyryllivska Street in the historic building of the Kyiv specialisedschool, founded by SergiyGrushevsky, the father of the First Ukrainian President MykhailoGrushevsky. In the center of the city in Pechersk, on Ivan Kudriastreet, is the main educational building of the university.
Students and teachers of TNU live in four dormitories.
The educational and scientific potential of the university is formed and strengthened. The university signed agreements on cooperation and common use of research laboratories with leading Kyiv universities. To form its own research base, TNU participates in various grant programs and provides collaboration with a number of international donors.
There are two stadiums to work out and play sports. The opening of the media space "Open Area" is planned, there students will take part in master classes and develop their creative skills. The University has applied for a grant funding to carry out the project “E-University” to create common information network to unite students and lecturers of TNU as well as partner universities. The network will contribute to the free access to knowledge and information. TNU takes an active part in educational programs provided by the European Union. Rector’s Appeal
"It is not very easy to pursue our ambition. The world is constantly changing, the current events set up high demands, and the dynamics of time require appropriate innovative approaches and competitive actions. However, I am convinced that through joint efforts, trust, cooperation, and perseverance we will study and work at the university, which honors our historical traditions, is aware of the new requirements of the European educational area and, above all, focuses on the needs of a modern citizen of the powerful modern European Ukraine»
